One of our Mercedes-Benz projects needed a major language update, with optimizations of the graphics we had already produced. The focus was on the Mercedes Benz eCall-system, which was first released in 2012and is intended for customers who are left behind in their cars. After an emergency call has been triggered, the Mercedes-Benz emergency call centre checks whether on-site assistance is required and, in the event of an emergency call (e. g. GPS position data, direction of travel, time of activation and voice settings at COMAND Online), forwards the emergency call data immediately to a public European emergency call centre. Our task in this case was to add more languages and internationalize the graphics.
In a first step, the original German/English text was translated into the eight new languages by Daimler Translation Service. After we received the translations, these languages had to be entered correctly. Exchanging the texts in the graphic is just as important. Due to different word lengths, the graphic had to be reworked for extra lengths.
PHP was used for the implementation of this project. The layout and programming of the page was done by DDD.
