A customizable video is to be produced for the international football sponsor on the occasion of the Football Euro 2012, which should entertain Hyundai’s advertising theme "Away Game" starring Jürgen Klinsmann and the ix35.
Scenes from the known clip of Hyundai’s "Away Game"-campaign were combined with new scenes of an actor from the clip’s "Team Hyundai" to create the used video material.
The story goes like this: Jürgen Klinsmann, head coach of the US national soccer team, gets out of a Hyundai, parking in front of a goal as you would, trying to prevent a goal after a free kick. He joins another coach, currently training with a player who immediately scores a goal, bending the ball elegantly around the car.
The identity of this talented player doesn’t stay a secret for long since his or her face and name (on the jersey) are personalized values, previously entered and uploaded by the user. The name also shows on the movie clapper at the beginning alongside Jürgen Klinsmann's name.
DDD implements the interface for the Flash-frontend, in which the user can enter his or her player’s name as well as upload an image of the player’s face. The latter can either be done by using Facebook Connect and therefore allowing access to the user’s facebook images, by taking a new picture with an installed webcam or by manually uploading an image. The frontend previews a 3D mapping of the image on the player, so the user can perfectly adjust it to the video.
Colour, saturation, brightness and contrast are adjustable as well as the position of the image itself.
The user image is integrated into the video using server-side 3D mapping, while the name uses grid mapping to be smoothly displayed on the back of the jersey.
